Alan Simpson On GOP: ‘We Have Homophobes In Our Party’

From thinkprogress.org
This is great.

Simpson could be referring to any number of leading Republican presidential contenders, including Newt Gingrich, who recently defended his support of the anti-gay American Family Association, Mike Huckabee, who “would love the world to be led by people who have a Biblical worldview, or Tim Pawlenty, who will never be at the point where he sees same-sex relationships as the same as traditional marriage.

Christianist Hate Group Issues Call To Pull Kids Out Of School On Day Of Silence

Cross Post from joemygod.com

The Illinois Family Institute, an SPLC-certified Christian hate group, says that parents should yank their kids out of class on the Day of Silence rather than have them exposed to the message that it's wrong to beat up gay children.
"GLSEN’s end game is the eradication of conservative moral beliefs and the creation of a social and political climate in which it is impossible to express them. Their cultural vehicle of choice for this radical social experiment is public education. What a strategic coup for homosexualists: use our money to capture the hearts and minds of our children. And we do virtually nothing. Our complacence makes us complicit in the damage done to our children and our culture. Moreover, we teach our children by example to be cowardly conformists. It’s time to resist, and there’s no easier way to resist than to call your children out of school on the Day of Silence. Parents and Guardians: Call your children’s middle and high schools and ask if students and/or teachers will be permitted to refuse to speak during class on Friday, April 15. If your administration allows students and/or teachers to refuse to speak during class, call your child out of school. Every student absence costs school districts money. When administrators refuse to listen to reason and when they allow the classroom to be exploited for political purposes, parents must take action. If they don’t, the politicization of the classroom and curricula will increase."
The "student walkout" has been endorsed by pretty much every hate group listed by the Southern Poverty Law Center, including the American Family Association, Concernstipated Women for America, MassResistance, and pedophile-enabler Scott Lively.

Tower of Babel Proves God Hates Socialism

This is the guy that Huckabee said that Americans should be "forced at gunpoint" to listen to.  Seven Mountains dominionist David Barton.is the latest Guru of the hyper religious.
See below the clip for my take on the story.

He is looking at it wrong. If we were all supposed to be unique as snowflakes which we are, finger prints, there are only so many variables to alter before he had to add orientation to the mix. There are 300,000,000 people in the United States alone. Add all the people today then add all the people before today and god HAD to play with gender, orientation, and identity to have had so many unique humans. He added twins the day he went fishing.

So, if God made me this way, I am as much a part of the human race as anybody and should be respected as the unique human I am.

This guy uses the bible and god as weapons to dominate others and force them to conform to what he believes.  How does one insist you conform to his beliefs by telling you a story of how we are each created to be different?

How sad his life must be.

Anti-Gay Housing Official Gets to Keep Her Job

I agree with the guy at the end. She has been anti-gay at her job for 12 years. I wonder how it has affected cases in her charge.

Bryan Fischer Thinks All Immigrants Should Become Christians

As you all know, I am NOT a fan of this ASS.  To think we would insist that a person would have to change their religion to become a citizen of a country found on religous freedom is insane!

cross post from joemygod.com

"It’s simple: don’t break the law (that is, come in through the front door instead of breaking in through a window), convert to Christianity, fully assimilate (become an authentic American, not a hyphenated American), and support yourself. If you commit to those things, you are welcome here. If you don’t or won’t, perhaps it’s best for you to stay home." - American Family Association spokesdouche Bryan Fischer.

Dan Savage Lets Maggie Have It

Dan Savage, co-founder ( Him and his husband) of the "It Gets Better" project and co-author of the book "It Gets Better" (15th on the NY Best Seller list), fires back at Maggie Gallagher.
She is the talking blob for the National Org. of Marriage. Keep in mind that this woman does not wear a wedding ring, take her husbands name, and we have never seen him. Now we find out she had a child out of wedlock.  She REALLY needs to STFU and crawl back into her hole.

Posted by Dan Savage on Wed, Apr 6, 2011 at 12:48 PM
Maggie Gallagher, head of the National Organization for Marriage, isn't pleased about my upcoming show on MTV:
Renowned sex columnist Dan Savage, who is an openly gay man, will be taking his popular sex and relationship advice column to MTV in a show appropriately called "Savage U" where he intends to educate your college student about the importance of honesty over just about anything else, including fidelity.... Savage, who for all his experience, does not know what women are like, advises [one recent correspondent] to tell [his girlfriend] openly and honestly what he wants, because otherwise the young man will just cheat on her.... The possibility of taming one's sexual desire for the sake of another, or of a vow, is not in the Savage moral imagination. Libido will have out, and honesty about that is the best policy. He brings, in other words, the best of gay sexual ethics and experience to a straight audience, with potentially disastrous results.
Gallagher, who once had a child out of wedlock, speaks for the fidelity-over-anything-else crowd (fidelity over reality, statistics, biology, ability, etc.). Now some people are capable of abstaining before marriage and being faithful to one partner for life—some people, but not Maggie—but these people represent a tiny minority of all sexually active adults. And while those who make this aberrant lifestyle choice should not be discriminated against, the rest of us—the majority of all sexually active adults—should be free to engage in grownup conversations about sex and desire and the reality-friendly ways in which we define and practice fidelity without being shouted down by the monogamously correct. Fidelity, after all, can mean so much more than just "you never get to see anyone else naked ever again."
Moving on to some of Maggie's specific objections...
I do not intend to "educate your college students," Maggie. Your college students—the offspring of NOM supporters—are being "educated" at Brigham Young, Liberty University, Bob Jones, Seattle Pacific University, and other Christianist madrassas. My college tours typically take me to secular institutions of higher learning where the kids were hooking up and having sex long before my visit to campus.
I know what women are like. I may not know what women taste like—I've never gone down on one—but I do know what women are like. My mother was a woman, my sister is a woman, my aunts are women, my favorite bartender is a woman, lots of my friends, neighbors, and coworkers are women. And as someone who sleeps with men and is a long-term relationship with a man, I know what (straight) women have to put up with. I'm not the first gay man that women have turned to for advice about love and sex, Maggie, and I won't be the last. And aren't you a practicing Catholic? Not knowing what women are like (or taste like) has never stopped the Pope from offering his unsolicited advice to women—no birth control, no abortions, no oral, no anal, no handjobs—and it's hypocritical of you to suggest that I'm not qualified to advise women, since I won't fuck 'em, without first telling that old fag in Rome to STFU already.
The possibility of taming one's sexual desire for the sake of another most definitely exists within the Savage moral imagination. I frequently discuss the "price of admission," that is, the personal sacrifices, small and large, that make long-term relationships possible. For some the price of admission—what it costs to ride a particular ride—includes "taming one's sexual desire for the sake of another." If anal sex is something you enjoy but you're in love with someone who doesn't do anal, then going without anal is the price of admission. If you're not into monogamy but you're in love with someone who insists on it, then monogamy is the price of admission. Settling down requires settling for, as I've said time and again, and on the sexual front many of us settle for less because we regard our partners are worth the price of admission.
Yes, libido will have out—but "libido will have out" doesn't translate into "Savage says anything and everything goes." Two people in a long-term, committed, loving relationship should be able to open and honest with each other about their sexual interests, turnons, drives, etc., because, yes, libido will have out. Meaning sexual compatibility and sexual satisfaction have a huge impact on the health of our relationships and marriages, Maggie, particularly if your spouse is your sole source of sexual satisfaction and release. People who are open and honest with their partners about their sexual interests—whether the relationship is monogamous or not—are likelier to have their needs met and likelier to meet their partners' needs. And when needs are being met, people are happy, people are less likely to cheat, people are likelier to stay married, children don't wind up being shunted from mom's house to dad's house every other week. (Think of the children, Maggie!)
Openness and honesty don't automatically translate into everyone gets everything everyone wants. Not all needs can be met. But sometimes just having the sacrifices we've made for the good of our marriages acknowledged, getting a receipt after paying the price of admission, is enough. To be given credit for, say, going without anal—along with the green light to jerk off to anal porn now and then—can make going without anal easier. Indeed, it can make going without anal virtuous, something that speaks well to the going-without-anal partner's character and priorities.
But there are times when monogamy—its pressures, discontents, and unquestioned acceptance—can destroy an otherwise decent marriage. Some of these marriages could be saved if both partners were encouraged to come to a reasonable, mutually-agreeable accommodation. Only those who are obsessed with sex to an unhealthy degree place a higher value preserving monogamy within a particular marriage over saving that particular marriage itself. (Think of the children, Maggie!)
These are my sexual ethics and I don't think there's anything particularly gay about them. Openness and honesty and realism, along with a willingness to make sacrifices and accommodations, all work just as well in straight relationships as they do in gay ones.

To Lie or Not to Lie on Your Taxes

This helps to explain the problem married gay couples are having when filing their taxes.
I am not working so I did not have to file but my wife did and rather than risk a problem she LIED and checked Single. I am not her spouse. I am a dependent.
For anyone who is married, the idea of being forced to lie about the one you have vowed to give you heart and soul to really hurts. My love and PAPER WORK is the SAME as every other married couple. It would be nice to be treated the same.

My Rock Band 3

This is what I do for fun almost everyday for just over a year. My lovely wife got me Rock Band 3 and the new drum kit with cymbals.
( I am always in paint clothes at home.)
Enjoy. I do. LOL

Why are the Republican presidential candidates embracing a vicious hatemonger?

Alvin McEwen is owner and author of the following site. I like the way he puts down ideas. I think he says it all in this piece. It is scary to think about what it happening.

I've said it once and I will say it again:

Singlehandedly, Bryan Fischer is confirming all of what the Southern Poverty Law Center has said about the American Family Association being a hate group.

One has to wonder whether or not he is holding some good information over the head of AFA head Donald Wildmon. It's the only explanation I can garner about why the organization continues to allow him to speak for them. So far, Fischer has:

  • wrote a ridiculous piece about the supposed lack of morals of Native Americans.

And that's not even counting all of the ugly things he has said about lgbts, particularly his comment about us being associated with Hitler and the Nazis:

So Hitler himself was an active homosexual. And some people wonder, didn't the Germans, didn't the Nazis, persecute homosexuals? And it is true they did; they persecuted effeminate homosexuals. But Hitler recruited around him homosexuals to make up his Stormtroopers, they were his enforcers, they were his thugs. And Hitler discovered that he could not get straight soldiers to be savage and brutal and vicious enough to carry out his orders, but that homosexual solders basically had no limits and the savagery and brutality they were willing to inflict on whomever Hitler sent them after. So he surrounded himself, virtually all of the Stormtroopers, the Browshirts, were male homosexuals.

But apparently there is one group which Fischer has failed to call out and offend - African-Americans. That is until today.

According to Raw Story, he said the following:

Fischer added that welfare had destroyed the African-American family by providing incentives for fornication instead of marriage. "It’s no wonder we are now awash in the disastrous social consequences of people who rut like rabbits," he wrote.

"Welfare has destroyed the African-American family by telling young black women that husbands and fathers are unnecessary and obsolete. Welfare has subsidized illegitimacy by offering financial rewards to women who have more children out of wedlock."

Fischer's comments would be hilarious except for the fact that prospective Republican presidential candidates such as Newt Gingrich, Mike Huckabee, Tim Pawlenty, Haley Barbour, and Michele Bachmann has appeared on his radio program.

I think certain questions need to be asked. Not to Fischer of course because that would be like trying to get a straight answer from a corpse.

Questions need to be asked of Gingrich, Huckabee, Pawlenty, Barbour, and Bachmann. How do they feel that they are the right individuals to lead this country if they rub shoulders with such a vindictive hate monger?

Mash Up of News Links

This is a few things I ran across while looking for something fresh for Monday.  They come from many different sites. Some I read regularly and some I just visit now and then. Enjoy.

The "It Gets Better Book" is tied for 15th place on the bestseller list!!

No more saggy pants for Arkansas school children. I think it is about time. As a teacher, I was over looking at the butt crack and colorful undies of the young men as well as the Umpa Lumpa look and walk. I also think skin tight clothes with crap like "Daddys Baby Girl" across the young girls butt is inappropriate.

The powerful voice of Howard Stern is a great piece. Howard is heard by millions and is making a difference. Thank you Howard.

Damian Furtch's Attacker, Anthony Bray, Says He's Gay Too

The question is, can a gay man be charged with a hate crime against another gay man?

I ask, Can a ______ person be charged with a hate crime against another ______person?

‘Don’t Ask’ repeal could be certified mid-summer. I think it is taking way to long for this to go into effect. It is interesting that we now know for sure that persons were being discharged for no other reason except they are gay.

As Smithsonian Continues to Duck Controversy, PFAW Report Draws Lessons On How Not to Respond to Political Bullies. Great piece on how NOT to respond to bullies.

When you watch this, remember that the Manhattan Declaration asked that you sign a pledge to discriminate against gays even if it is against the law. The Ex-Gay app was published by a group that says gays can change, will take your money, treat you like shit, and do harmful damage. Gays can NOT change any more than Str8s can.

Lets end on a warm and fuzzy.. The Rescue and Return of Mans best friend.
