HomoQuotable - Armistead Maupin - To Those I Love in Ohio
From joemygod.com"I’m outraged that there are currently major candidates for President of the United States who are using homophobia to rally their base. I’m pissed off at my Republican family back in North Carolina, several of whom came to my wedding, but who went right back and are voting for homophobes and acting like it doesn’t matter. It does matter and it’s time for the queers in this country to start saying so to their families. I think we’ve all cut them too much slack for far too long." - Armistead Maupin, speaking to Britain's Pink News.
This goes out to my family in Ohio. The ones who bother to vote or care about politics are Republicans. We try to stay away from politics when we get together because we are from opposite ends of the political spectrum.
We do give our families alot of slack. We are so grateful we are not kicked out, ignored, or hated for being who we are that we often let things slide to keep the peace. We don't talk about our friends or what we did over the weekend if it has anything to do with "gay" stuff. We bite our lips or go out for a smoke when the conversation gets sticky because we don't want to make waves. It is easy to say "We're here, We're queer, get used to it" during the parade but NEVER at a family gathering.
It makes me sick to know that they are voting in a religious, homophobic, health care is a privilege not a right, lets go back to the 50's kind of candidate. It is hard to know that they think my "commitment" in 2006 was ok and they came to celebrate but my legal marriage in 2010 is not.
I love my family and would do what I could to make sure they are treated with respect and dignity for who they are. I wish they would do the same for me.
Ohio is not gay friendly and this is part of the reason.

Peter Sprigg gives thought to sexual orientation science; and by thought, I mean middle finger
by Jeremy Hooper at goodasyou.org
Remember kiddies....There are no such things as "ex-gay". It was made up by closet cases like Peter.
Four out of five credible scientists disagree. The fifth refuses to even dignify such silliness."…ex-gay is a sexual orientation, just as much as being gay is."
-Peter Sprigg, the Family Research Council's Senior Policy Fellow, a frequent TV pundit, and also a major voice within the current campaign to stop marriage equality in Maryland [SOURCE]

NEW YORK: Clergy To Protest MSNBC For Hosting Anti-Gay Hate Group Leaders
Just in from joemygod.com...

Tomorrow progressive and LGBT clergy members will protest outside the Rockefeller Center headquarters of MSNBC to express their anger over the network's routine hosting of viciously anti-gay hate group leader Tony Perkins, head of the Family Research Council. Via Advocate:
“FRC has been designated a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center for using dishonest, incendiary rhetoric about gay and lesbian Americans,” notes a press release from the online action network Faithful America, “but MSNBC has continued offering a friendly venue for Perkins, neither informing their viewers of FRC’s status nor including any rebuttal from progressive religious leaders. Perkins has appeared on MSNBC more often this year than on any other cable news network.” The clergy group will hold a press conference at 11 a.m. tomorrow at Rockefeller Center in New York City, the building where MSNBC is headquartered, then deliver petitions bearing 20,000 signatures from Faithful America members. “The delegation will remind MSNBC that the hateful views of Perkins and the Family Research Council aren’t reflective of the faith community and demand that the network stop inviting him on the air to represent the views of Christians and other people of faith,” says the press release. It's about damn time! I know there has been lots of letters and phone calls about putting Hate Groups on as "authorities" on LGBT issues as "balance". When a group is pointed out as hateful by a reliable source and a large part of the population that is suffering from their hate, it is time to STOP giving them air time to spread lies and more hate.
I will post video as I can find it.

From buzzfeed.com comes this beautiful picture.
These are also known as frost flowers or salt flowers. Its delicate crystal-like texture resembles a flower, but it's just sea water that was a result of rapid freezing. Still, pretty gorgeous.

Hatred and Racism
I could not sleep last night so I surfed around for all kinds of news. I was hoping to find some crazy art and a cool video or two but found this instead.
From Little Green Footballs.com comes this disturbing truth about our nation.
I am only supplying a few comments as I find this repulsive.

Fox News Commenters Respond to Whitney Houston’s Death With Deluge of Hatred and Racism
What right wing racism?
I don’t even know what to say about this any more. There’s a real sickness running rampant in the right wing; the Fox News comment thread on Whitney Houston’s death is yet another disgusting deluge of outright racism: Singer Whitney Houston Dies at 48 | Fox News.
There are almost 5000 comments posted in the thread — these are from the first few pages. Notice that the racist bastards deliberately misspell their slurs or insert random spaces, so they aren’t caught by word filters. And many of the worst comments have numerous “likes” from other commenters.
We are Americans and as such we must strive to better ourselves as individuals and as a nation.
This kind of attitude toward our fellow Americans MUST stop if we are to move forward. It only serves to hurt both others and yourself.
The people who wrote these comments and 5000 others like them are ignorant and intolerant morons.
Don't speak ill of the dead.
If you can't say anything nice then STFU!

A tragedy is when someones passes away from a terminal disease or something else that no one saw coming.Whitney is just an inferior lo w life ni gg er that needed to go,no tragedy,no loss.YA know people! This is the year 2012! We are suppose to be better than this! It is not like you have NEVER heard the words of Abe Lincoln, Dr. King, Harvey Milk, or James Kirk.

SHe couldn’t even sell issues of “the national enquirer” anymore. Everyone was tired of the TNB. Niqqer flaps her lips and screeches, niqqer becomes rich. Niqqer ends up nearly broke after spending all of her money. Niqqer in constant fights and drug binges. Niqqer ODs when she learns she’s nearly broke and she is so wasted physically she can’t make another album. Niqqer hit the end of the road, niqqer thinking and niqqer behavior led her to where she had nothing. She couldn’t face life without the “bling bling”, she knew she would never have any more “kaching kaching”

I am now patiently waiting for the grand messiah Obama to have a blk fundraiser in honor of Whitley with Kevin Costner as guest of honor with all the Hollywood elites invited along with Alan Colmes, Al Sharpton, Jeremia Wright, Charles Rangel, etc. with a menu featuring blk eyed peas, grits, Imported Kobe steak, Dom Perignon, sweet potato pie and a mus lll im scarf as a momento of this great occasion.
Of course the door prize will be an all expense paid trip to Kenya to visit the Obama tribe and birthplace of his ancestors while the American people still look for this imposter’s birth certificate in Hawaii !!!

This is typical of the blk gene pool; it happens all the time. They cannot handle fame and fortune whether it’s derived from music, acting, sports or just plain entertainment. Too much fame and too much money at one time will ki ll ll you.
How many blk people have died from drugs including alcohol that have been in the sports and the entertainment industry or screwed up their married lives like Tiger Woods or worse, OJ Simpson !!!
This is the same disease that got Obama voted into the White House.

tough break niqqer.
I can't say I was shocked. I know people that think and say things like this. They don't when I am in the room or if they are in my home. I yell at the kids in the street when I here them use words that hurt.
While I was not shocked, I was surprised that so many people wrote such horrible things about a woman they did not know, who shared a talented gift, and now has a family in pain all because of the color of her skin?!

NJ Passes Equal Marriage Bill !!!!
The New Jersey State Senate just passed the equal marriage bill 24 to 16. Now it is off to the Assembly where it should pass with no problems. There should be enough votes to pass it even after Gov. Christy vetos it. I don't know how Gov. Christy can ignore the arguments for marriage.
I have listened to testimonies for and against and can not for the life of me understand how equal marriage can, has, or will hurt anyone. It can only serve to enhance or country and move us forward as a free and equal nation. Anything less than that is Un-American.

More from Maryland - My Marriage is NOT Counterfit
There is so much wrong with this.....

A 14 year old parroting the ideals of her parents wants no "counterfeit" marriages?!
Thinking the government would work that way proves she is not paying attention in class. She is not a Hero for speaking out on any topic. She can't vote for 4 more years. ( Thank Goodness)
Remember, Peter Spriggs is the head of a known Hate Group and should never be testifying except at his own trials.
My marriage is NOT COUNTERFEIT.

Whitney Houston has Died
I just saw the news and it is sad indeed. 48 year old Whitney Houston has died. There are no details at this time and frankly, it doesn't matter how when or why. The world has lost a great voice.
JP Moore at Buzzfeed.com has put up every video of her greatest hits for you to enjoy and remember.
Dave Stopera at Buzzfeed.com has posted all of her accomplishments to remind us of how great she truly was. It is an impressive list. The most by any female artist. Ever.
I have danced and cried to many of her songs over the years. We all watched her fall and get back up.
Rest in Peace You will be missed for a very long time.

Last Night in Maryland - The Best Testimony
Having had a busy day, I was not able to listen in on all the Equal Marriage testimonies. I did play catch up and caught the last 4 hours.
For the most part it was all the same stuff from both sides.
Those against were mostly based on religious reasons sprinkled with the lies and twisted truths they believe are true. No REAL reasons for denying couples equal marriage. Some were delivered with grace but most were delivered with a sense of urgency and anger. All see it as a threat.
I will spare you from listening to the worst one I recorded for 2 reasons. First, I am new to the Podcast site I needed to get the clips up. Second, I don't think we need to listen to the Fire and Brimstone rants of a poor soul that could benefit from therapy.
Those for equal marriage gave the usual jumble of LGBT families, friends, and allies.
Not many of them were angry. Most were heartfelt. Some were funny. Most were focused on the family while others focused on benefits to the state and the lack of real reasons to deny equal marriage.
This was the most eloquent and well spoken speech I caught Last Night in Maryland. Get a tissue and be ready to cheer.
