Found at the Huffington Post very interesting. The city police dept. should NOT be used for guarding any one business. A company as big as this should be paying for their own security!
The NYPD provides Fox News's midtown Manhattan studios 24/7 protection, The Daily Beast reports, more than any other media organization in the city.
ABC, NBC and CBS pay for their own private security details whereas, according to one security expert, Fox News's around-the-clock protection by the boys in blue costs city taxpayers at least $500,000 a year.
Reached for comment, NYPD spokesman Paul Browne told The Beast "Each of the networks gets police coverage to varying extents based on threat information." But the other major New York-based media outlets had no knowledge of the offered protection, and one employee at ABC commented, "I would love the special favors."
And so, why the extra cops at the two million square foot Newscorp building on Sixth Avenue? Is it because police commissioner Ray Kelly really only protects "white, heterosexual males?" Or maybe he's just looking out for his son?
A more likely reason is the well-documented paranoia of Fox News CEO Roger Ailes, who's had bombproof windows installed in his office and is "convinced he's been targeted by Al Qaeda for assasination."
Head to the Daily Beast for more.

Homofascist thugs are forcing the FBI to search for the kidnapped daughter of "ex-gay" fugitive Lisa Miller. So sez LifeSiteNews:
Lisa and Isabella are not free. The FBI is after them. At any time, they may be captured. At any time, Isabella may be kidnapped by the FBI and her mother arrested. America is resurrecting Sodom with a vengeance, supported by the formidable power of the State. While Christian social services in the US are losing their traditional right to help children because they refuse state orders to adopt children to homosexual couples, lesbian activist Janet Jenkins is free to run a day care. And because of Janet’s radical activism, Isabella and her mother are not free or safe from massive state persecution. Persecution for their faith and their refusal to compromise with evil.
This tragedy was made possible only because gay civil unions were allowed in Vermont. And when homosexual “marriage” is allowed, the gay agenda and the State become united in an unholy “marriage,” where special rights and freedoms are granted to those in the footsteps of Sodom. This unholy “marriage” enables homosexual activists to oppress and persecute people who renounce homosexual perversion, with assistance of the FBI, which has effectively become — at least in the Jenkins-Miller case — a Gaystapo.
They went out of their way to make this woman out to be some kind of saint when she broke the law.
They willingly got married in a state where it is legal. A binding contract like all marriages. It did not work out and they separated. If it was a a str8 couple and one of the parents stole the child and ran, having the FBI looking for them would not be an issue. Just because it is a lesbian couple and one is a "former" lesbian and found God, it's OK?
It is not OK. The law governs everyone regardless of your faith or sexual identity when it comes to kidnapping. The child has been on the run with this woman for years and has been sheltered by and funded by the faith based Hate Group, Alliance Defence Fund. Because it is a kidnapping of a child, the FBI is doing their job.
This child is going to be a mess when she is found. Living on the run and told God only knows what about her other parent or the LGBT population as a whole. Poor thing.
There is no such thing as a "former" lesbian. No "ex-gay" . If she is bisexual, fine, but there are no ex-bisexuals" either. There are however "former" cult members.
My wife and I sit on the couch, hold hands and cry every week to this show. It reminds us that there are really good people out there. The people who get the homes are those in need and give back to their communities. All the companies and people that give up their time and materials to make a better life for a family in need is amazing. I am so very happy that Extreme Home Makeover choose her and her family. Thank you to everyone involved at EHM for all the joy and love you put into making a difference in the world one home at a time. Anyone who has been following the bully issues know this woman and her son Carl. She has been fighting long and hard to bring bullying to a stop.

Sideaner Walker became a nationally known anti-bullying activist after her eleven year old son, Carl Walker-Hoover, hung himself in his yard. Tonight ABC's Extreme Makeover remodels the Walker home.
Designer Jillian Harris and other members of ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” team regularly see the good which can come from providing new homes to families. She hopes the home they created this fall for Sirdearner Walker and her family here helps the Walkers continue their healing process. “We have rebuilt a home for a family in need,” Harris said this week. “This is a family that has been through hardships. They cried out with joy when they saw their new house.”
The Huffington Post has a GREAT piece on the Roddenberry family and video from the new "Trek Nation" made by Rod Roddenberry. This is a look at the family, shows, and Trekkers like my self and family, and the impact it has had then and now and the son's journey to understand his father. I have yet to see it as I did not get this news until this morning. I WILL be recording it when it is rerun on the Science Channel thru December. Resistance is futile. Live long and prosper.

From ecorazzi.com comes this heart warming story of dogs that were born and lived in cages for over 2 years and had NEVER seen the sun or grass. Thanks to my wonderful wife, I had a good tear jerker.
If this story and video doesn’t bring you smiles and happy tears, I just don’t know what will.
For this group of dogs, life didn’t start out that way, though. A total of 72 beagles were removed from a research laboratory in Spain, and 32 of them were adopted in Europe. The future for the remaining 40 dogs was uncertain, until the Beagle Freedom Project stepped in. The Project is part of Animal Rescue Media Education (ARME), a nonprofit started by animal rights attorney and filmmaker, Shannon Keith. Their work is devoted to rescuing and finding homes for beagles formerly used in research. According to their website, beagles are often “friendly, docile, trusting, forgiving, people-pleasing personalities.”
The organization had the 40 dogs flown from Spain to Los Angeles, California where they would find them new homes. Gary Smith of Beagle Freedom Project said, “We’ve been told they lived one per cage in rooms of 10 beagles, but they never had any physical interaction with one another.” “They’ve been in kennels since they were rescued about a week ago, but aside from that, they’ve spent most of their lives locked up,” according to the Huffington Post.
Smith gave us an update today on the beagles who are still adjusting to life free from cages and experiments. “As of now, all of the beagles are with fosters and fosters to adopters. We had eight staying with us in our beagle sanctuary, formerly known as our kitchen. We are down to the two that we plan to foster and adopt if Chloe, our 15 year old cat (who has chronic renal failure) gives us permission. They are Frederick (Freddie) and Douglass (Doug). Of the six we fostered out of our sanctuary, they are all adjusting, some faster than others. It will take time for the dogs to truly trust anyone. Doug allowed me to pet him for the very first time last night, after six days! Freddie gets up at 3 am and runs in circles in our kitchen and outside.”
Big thank you’s to Gary and Shannon Keith and the rest of Beagle Freedom Project for taking in these 40 dogs and changing their world. If you are interested in adopting one of the dogs still in need of a home or making a donation to help, you can get more information here.
Below, watch an amazing video from June of 9 other beagles rescued from a research lab, as Beagle Freedom Project helps them step out of their cages and into grass and sunshine for the first time.
Our housemate is transgender, f to m, and he has opened my eyes to the problems faced by our transgender brothers and sisters. We all have changed how we address others in respect to race and religion to be PC. The LGB population is gaining in the PC change as well. The T population faces a gross lack of respect due to the lack of knowledge of PC terms. This chart makes clear what terms are not PC and can cause pain. Knowledge is power! Learn!
USMC Commandant James Amos once argued fiercely against the repeal of DADT. But now he says things are going well.
The apparent absence of angst about gays serving openly in the Marines seemed to confirm Amos’ view that the change has been taken in stride, without hurting the war effort. In the AP interview, he offered an anecdote to make his point. He said that at the annual ball in Washington earlier this month celebrating the birth of the Marine Corps, a female Marine approached Amos’s wife, Bonnie, and introduced herself and her lesbian partner. “Bonnie just looked at them and said, ‘Happy birthday ball. This is great. Nice to meet you,’” Amos said. “That is happening throughout the Marine Corps."
Some say that Amos is Flip Flopping in the issue. I think he he believed at the time it was a bad idea based on his view from the over 45 crowd. He did what a good soldier would do and made sure the repeal of DADT did not cause a problem in the ranks. When he saw that all was well he believed things would work out. No problem. No matter what he believes, there has been NO reported problems since the repeal of DADT on Sept. 20, 2011. The LGBT population knew it would not be an issue and if there was a problem, it would come from Str8 soldiers. For most of the under 45 crowd it was and is a non-issue. Thank you to all our brave troops for showing the rest of the country that you all can face any problem including those icky queers. LOL I hope that the rest of the country takes their example and can work together in peace with the LGBT population as well.
Archbishop Dolan's remarks about being "deceived" by politicians that marriage equality wouldn't pass have garnered some attention in the LGBT blogosphere. What Dolan said after that segment is what should be highlighted though if we want to win full equality nationwide. (emphasis mine)
"Not only are we...upset with the bill, we're upset with the way it was done," [Archbishop Timothy Dolan] said. "This was hardly democracy in action."
"If you were so convinced that this was the will of the people, why didn't we have a referendum, and why did you literally have to lock the doors and not face any public, because you knew it really wasn't going to go over, right?"
Dolan's latter statement appeared to be a reference to the fact that the public had reportedly been barred from committee meetings on the bill.
Dolan also said that the bishops were deceived on the question of the protection of religious freedom in the final bill. "We said the next thing will be we'll be sued if we don't do marriage, we're going to be harassed if we don't do receptions, we're going to be penalized if we don't allow adoption, we're going to be booed if we don't hire these people," Dolan told Arroyo.
Take a moment and digest what the good Bishop is actually saying in that last paragraph.
My thoughts and the video of Dolan's appearance after the break.Really quickly, let's look at Bishop Dolan's obvious lie in the second paragraph that the article tries to explain away. New York legislators didn't "lock the doors and not face any public." The vote was live-streamed, televised, and we posted several videos from inside of the Statehouse. It's just blatantly untrue.
Now, let's examine the heart of the matter one more time. This is where the bishop's unChristian attitudes come to the surface proudly. They might as well be waving a flag. A red flag.
"We said the next thing will be we'll be sued if we don't do marriage, we're going to be harassed if we don't do receptions, we're going to be penalized if we don't allow adoption, we're going to be booed if we don't hire these people," Dolan told Arroyo.
Dolan is claiming that New York's marriage equality legislation doesn't include any religious exemptions and the church can be sued for refusing to officiate same-sex weddings. The New York Times, however, points us to the exact wording in the legislation that says the exact opposite of what the holy bishop is claiming. The article's title? Glad you asked. It's called "Religious Exemptions Were Key to New York Gay Marriage Vote."
The amendment that was passed stated that barring access to same-sex ceremonies, or failing to provide services for them, would not "result in any state or local government action to penalize, withhold benefits, or discriminate against such religious corporation, benevolent order, a not-for-profit corporation operated, supervised or controlled by a religious corporation."
For the second time in the short statement, Dolan blatantly lies.
The religious exemption would also give them the immunity to refuse to hold receptions on church property, but notice Dolan uses a different framing for this tidbit. He says the church will be "harassed." In other words, he knows that the church has the right to refuse to host a same-sex marriage reception; now he just doesn't want to be bothered by the people who would be upset at being discriminated against. They have no legal recourse, but the sound of their anger and dismay is apparently too much for the disciple of Christ to bear.
Next the holy man addresses the issue of gay adoption. While the Catholic church has repeatedly threatened to close adoption agencies if they had to abide by non-discrimination laws, no state has threatened to "penalize" them. The charities have all voluntarily closed their doors after refusing to provide homeless and parentless children loving homes if the parents are gay or lesbian.
Jesus instructed his followers to care for orphans and widows and he neglected to put any limitations on the commandment. He didn't say (as he could have) "everyone except prostitutes" or "everyone except Pharisees" or "everyone except..." He instructed his followers to love each other - the most important aspect of parenting. Perhaps Bishop Dolan needs a refresher course on Christ's teachings.
Last of all we get to Dolan's big fear - being "booed." He wants to be liked, dammit! God is about love, not catcalls! Right?! He doesn't seem to want to be brushed the tarry goodness of being called a bigot.
Unfortunately for him, that's exactly how he painted himself. Notice the language choice - "these people." Can you feel the distance between him and the "others" who are not like him? Isn't that the definition of bigotry - disliking others because they don't conform to your point of view or share common characteristics? There's not a rational basis for it; it's just you and then there's "them."
Dolan spends a good bit of time in the beginning of the segment talking economic justice and the need for good jobs in America. These are human rights. Yet minutes later, Dolan argues that "these people" shouldn't be able to get a job and he doesn't want booed for saying so.
If you're looking for what the Catholic church truly feels about LGBT people, Archbishop Timothy Dolan leads the way. He doesn't think you should be able to have access to the church (deny marriage), your friends or family (deny receptions), doesn't think you're fit to be a parent (deny adoptions), and doesn't think you even deserve to have a job (deny employment opportunities).
I'd say that the bishop would prefer that LGBT people be kept as slaves by the Godly, but slaves had the Christian church shoved down their throats constantly. Think about that for a second. You're not even worthy of pay for your work. After all, the bishop doesn't advocating turn away the gay volunteers who donate hundreds of hours to the church weekly.
With these sort of leanings, can you expect Dolan's heartfelt leadership on racism issues? Combined with Catholic teachings about the role of women and stance on both abortion and birth control, do you expect this man of God to stand firm for women's rights? After the many sex abuse scandals, can you trust him with your children?
And when one man has perverted the teachings of the God he claims to follow so broadly and thoroughly, can you trust him to teach you the deeper inner meanings of life his tradition teaches? Or will it be warped by his own bigotries and beliefs?
If he cracked open the book he bases his religion on, he'd notice that Christ actually warned God's bureaucracy about their tendency to follow the letter of the law so closely that it obliterates the larger message of "love thy neighbor." He has become, by definition, a Pharisee instead. From Matthew 23:
13 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the door of the kingdom of heaven in people's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. [14]
...
25 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence. 26 Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, and then the outside also will be clean.
27 "Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of the bones of the dead and everything unclean. 28 In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
...
37 "Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kill the prophets and stone those sent to you, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were not willing. 38 Look, your house is left to you desolate. 39 For I tell you, you will not see me again until you say, 'Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.'"
