More on the War on Drugs
Yesterday I mentioned that the war on drugs is failing. Check out the map and watch the video. Also check out this Major report.

Solving Our Money Issues
This morning I was reading about the impending collapse of the Post Office.
Suggestions for solving the problems was cut back on days and more cost to the consumer.
I don't think cutting days or charging more for services will change anything. The more they charge, the less businesses will use them. Cut days and the letter carriers will lose income.
The whole country is in this mess because we keep charging more and more for the same services to the point no one can buy or use them. Medical costs in the US is many times higher than other countries for the same products and services. The prices of everything keep going up until what? $20.00 for one loaf of bread?
Not sure who said this but "The problems of today can not be solved by the mindset that caused them" or something like that.
I have some suggestions for fixing a few problem areas that would put money back into our economy.
How about we cut some cost by making pot legal and change the failing drug war. Billions are spent each year and it just keeps getting worse. Even the DEA says it is not working. Regulate it like alcohol and tobacco. Other countries have done it and make good models for us to copy and use. Some have even seen a decline in over all drug use after making it legal.
Start taxing churches on income and property. The IRS needs to be more vigilant about yanking tax exemptions from churches that want to play politics. Because religion is a personal choice and we live in a diverse country, I as a pagan do not feel my taxes should be used to subsidize others religious houses of worship. The Catholic church rakes in plenty to pay taxes. Maybe if they were paying off a big tax bill instead of lawyers they would quit harboring perverts.
Limit wages and benefits of elected offices and make them live under the same rules they make for us. Limit retirement benefits too. For the amount of real work that most congressmen and women do, they are over paid. They should get the same cost of living increases that we all get and no more. I can't listen to some fat ass bitch about the economy but vote himself a raise that would choke a horse.
They should have to pay the same as every American for the same health care. I bet the cost of health care would go down quickly.
Make it legal to get prescriptions filled outside the country. Why should I have to pay so much more here when I can get it at a more reasonable cost ANYWHERE else? Pharmaceutical companies are making a mint in this country.
Tax the crap out of imports from American owned companies so we start buying Made in America instead. Our government has all but pushed companies out. So it is cheaper to make it over seas but you charge the same for the product here? Don't think so. Add a huge tax to their product and people WILL quit buying it.
It is not like Americans are not aware of the sweat shops and kids making products for next to nothing yet we gladly fork over $150.00 for a pair of shoes that only cost the company $10.00 to make.
Tax everyone the same. No loop holes and no deductions for any donations. If you earned it, pay it. If you want to give some away, fine but not as a write off. If every person and company paid what they owed, the money for the common goods and services would go up and taxes could go down.
So lets recap:
Legal pot = happier, less violent people, lots of new tax income and less on drug war. ( That money could be used to help those who do bad drugs like meth, crack, and the like.) More jobs.
Tax churches = lots more money for the coffers, church becomes self sustaining and can legally play politics.
Limit political wages and benefits = Have more realistic view of the country and make better judgments when making laws governing themselves.
Prescriptions filled outside the country = lower cost inside.
Taxing imports from over seas American companies = force people to to buy Made in America, inspire old companies to return or new companies to take over. More jobs.
Tax everyone the same = more money for common goods and services, more jobs.

Water into Wine Debate
Here is a good one to discuss over a glass of wine.
This is a great example of how and why the Bible is twisted and rewritten until it is almost not the same book. This is why NO ONE should put all their faith in any COPY of any one book of faith.
Makes you wonder what the "true" word was.

Dancing in a Cesspool?
The Christian Broadcast Network (CBN) has a so called news program. This is no more news than FOX . This is their commentary on Chaz Bono and Dancing With The Stars
(DWTS).
First, Chaz has every right to dance. DWTS is about dancing and nothing more. Carson is very popular and will be dancing. For some of us, it may see odd that Carson will be dancing with a woman but then lots of male dancers are gay.
Second, why is it OK for young male Christians to watch a show full of half naked women dancing provocatively but not OK to watch 2 grown men who's orientation just happens to be known dancing with them? If no one knew anything about them it would not be an issue.
That is the thing. It is OK if you are in the closet and dance but not OK if you are out and dancing. The Dance does not care if you are LGBT or not. Only that you dance.
As for reading or watching OLD stuff, you better do some research before hand. So many movie stars and writers were gay and Goddess forbid you find out that you had just enjoyed something by a gay artist.
Then there is the issue of reinforcing outdated gender stereotypes. This is 2011 people not 1950. Things and people change. While the 50's had great music, it also was oppressive to women and any person of any color as well as LGBTs. It was a white mans world then.
Not now! Thank goodness. Now women and men in the wonderful rainbow that is human have less restrictions and more rights. The LGBT population has ALWAYS been here and are stepping out to shine their light on the dance floor as well. Deal with it!

Lawrence King Mistrial - BS !!!!
McInerney shot his 15-year-old gay classmate Lawrence King twice in the head at point-blank range in an Oxnard classroom in February 2008. There were 30 people who saw it happen.
There is no doubt the 14 year old planned and carried out this execution. His reason? Lawrence made a pass at him and sent him a Valentine.
The defence team used "Gay Panic" as part of the reason for McInerney's actions as well as making him look like a victim.
Both came from troubled homes and both had adults fail to do their jobs.
King was gay and refused to be intimidated by bullies. He wore makeup and high heel boots to class.
McInerney was part of a white supremicy group and had access to guns.
The teacher knew of the problems but did not know how to handle them. She could not have imagined that this could happen.
The jury only diliberated 15 hours before coming to the conclusion that while they agree the crime was committed, they could not concure on the charges.
McInerney was being tried as an adult.
Hung jury = mistrial
I have 2 sons and was a teacher and scout leader for many years. A 14 year old boy is in conflict with himself and what is expected of him as a man everywhere he turns. Hormones are raging and sexual ID is forming. Hate was already instilled in this kid. He was indoctrinated in the truest form.
This does not give him the right or reason to kill.
At 14, kids know what murder is. He knew what he was doing and how to do it. That he had the guts to pull the trigger, twice, says something about the kind of person he was, is, and could be again. This is a Hate Crime of the worst kind. I don't WANT to pay his way for the rest of his natural life but death is too kind. They should see that he never enjoys anything ever again. Nothing. No TV or video games. No books. Not even a job. No understanding of accomplishment or purpose. No activity that brings satisfaction or joy. NEVER put back on the street. He knowingly took a life so he should fully forfeit his own.
"Gay Panic" is no excuse.
McInerney spoke about it to others, got a gun and ammo, took it to school and fired, twice, point blank.
Shame on the judge and jury. Now they have to start over and we will have to wait again before this adult is thrown in prison for life.

The reason why the American Family Association is a hate group
Found at pamshouseblend as a crosspost from Holy Bullies and Headless Monsters by Alvin McEwen
Due to the amazing success of a recent post – 16 Reasons Why The Family Research Council is a Hate Group, that piece and this one will be part of an ongoing series focusing on the language and lies of many of the groups named by the Southern Poverty Law Center as anti-gay hate groups
Last year when the Southern Poverty Law Center declared certain anti-gay organizations to be hate groups, they went apoplectic. They claimed that they were being “persecuted” for their faith and being picked on by so-called radical left-wing forces.
They even got members of Congress to help them push that false notion, dodging the fact that their rhetoric, their intentional lying, and pushing of propaganda fueled SPLC’s actions.
But one man took it upon himself to be so bullheaded that he had to speak his mind about the gay community – not matter how ignorant and hateful his words were, thereby proving these organizations to be dodging liars and giving the gay community and our supporters one of many things to point out about the contradictions in the religious right’s phony claim of persecution.
That man – Bryan Fischer – Director of Issues Analysis for the American Family Association. The AFA is one of the organizations declared as a hate group by SPLC and Fischer’s rhetoric is a main reason for this designation.
Yet those defending AFA and other religious right groups conveniently omit any talk of Fischer or the comments he made. Such as:
when he said that gays created the Nazi Party:
or that homosexuality should be criminalized:
or that gay sex is like terrorism:
And it bears mentioning that Fischer isn’t seen as a loon by many on the right. He is dead center in their mainstream. Many individuals, such as various Republican presidential candidates have appeared on this man’s radio show. So maybe, in a strange way, the gay community owes some sort of debt of thanks to Fischer. Because you see, every time someone like Peter Sprigg or Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council claim that they are being “picked on” because of their “faith,” we can remind them of this:
And if those video clips aren’t enough for you, then consider when Fischer:
tried to refute SPLC’s list of 10 lies the religious right tell about the gay community. Not only did SPLC answer him back – embarrassing the hell out of him, but I got some kicks in myself.
Lastly, there was the interview with David Pakman in which Fischer really made an ass of himself. The following are just some of the highlights:
If anyone disagrees, please tell me why. Your reasoning is going to be highly enjoyable to hear.

The fact that the AFA actually allows Fischer to use its name is more than enough reason to give the organization “hate group” status.“We’re the ones telling the truth about the link between homosexuality and pedophilia.”
“Active participation in the homosexual lifestyle will deprive a male of anywhere between 8 and 20 years of his life expectancy” – a Paul Cameron lie.
“There is ‘no such thing as a monogamous homosexual relationship’”
“The rectal wall is one cell thick” – now Fischer is quoting Paul Cameron almost verbatim.
“We need to take our cue from gay porn actors”
“Those homosexual activists that are so intent on normalizing homosexual behavior…they must be harboring some deep seated longing to be straight”
“…homosexual activists must be latently heterosexual”
If anyone disagrees, please tell me why. Your reasoning is going to be highly enjoyable to hear.
Wayne Besen: Let’s Face it – Homophobia is so Gay
Found at pamshouseblend.
We welcome friend of the Blend Wayne Besen to our new digs. Wayne is the Founding Executive Director of Truth Wins Out and author of “Anything But Straight: Unmasking the Scandals and Lies Behind the Ex-Gay Myth” (Haworth, 2003). In 2010, Besen was awarded the “Visionary Award” at the Out Music Awards for organizing the American Prayer Hour, an event which shined a spotlight on the role American evangelicals played in the introduction of Uganda’s Anti-Homosexuality Bill.
This week, we learned that virulently anti-gay Puerto Rican Senator Robert Arango was on a diet. Like any straight man wanting to show off his sculpted new body, he posted pictures of his anus on the gay men’s cruising software Grindr. Last week, a homophobic Indiana lawmaker, Rep. Phillip Hinkle (R), answered a Craig’s List ad for an $80 male prostitute looking for a Sugar Daddy. After he was exposed by the escort, Hinkle said that he isn’t gay and declared “I don’t know what was going through my mind.” And, of course, we all know about Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID) who sought sex in a Minneapolis airport men’s room by tapping his foot.
These tawdry tales of deception and deceit are tailor-made for the tabloids. They provide vindication for the LGBT community and punish villains who deserve their fate. However, it is time to look beyond the headlines and have the psychiatric community examine the heads of closet cases that inflict enormous damage on their own people. These disgusting betrayals are much greater than hypocrisy. They represent full-fledged pathology that has devastating consequences for the LGBT community.
To protect their “dirty” secret, these scoundrels are inciting persecution and passing discriminatory laws that lead to many forms of suicide: career, social, financial, emotional, spiritual, and actual. Gay couples with limited rights must pay higher taxes and hire expensive lawyers to draw up contracts. These couples must also endure the emotionally devastating prospect of not having hospital visitation rights when emergencies strike. Careers are irreversibly harmed when homosexuals hit glass ceilings or they are fired in states that offer no legal protections. And, we lose young people every day who hear homophobic rhetoric coming from closeted politicians or those influenced by them.
Enough is enough.
Society needs to stop being squeamish and treating these vulgar events as personal tragedies or sordid anomalies. Such phenomenon are neither episodic nor mere coincidence, but part of a pervasive pattern that strongly suggests that the most rabid homophobes are usually gay. Indeed, solid research backs up this hypothesis: In 1996, a University of Georgia study by Dr. Henry Adams proved that men who are most outspokenly anti-gay were the ones most likely to be turned on by gay porn.
Given the research and empirical evidence, activist and sex columnist Dan Savage is on the money when he asks: “Have we reached a tipping point yet? Shouldn’t homophobic politicians and anti-gay bullies be presumed to be gay until they get caught up in a straight sex scandal?”
My opinion is not mere speculation, but comes from my own behavior while living in the closet. During my freshman year in high school, I confronted a fellow student in my debate class with an anti-gay epithet. He looked me in the eyes and presciently replied, “Those who call other people fags are usually the real homosexuals.”
A similar situation happened in Puerto Rico when Sen. Arango once gay-baited a political opponent and even used a rubber duck to convey that this man was gay. (Apparently, the word for duck is an anti-gay slur in Puerto Rico) The difference was that I was 13 and trying to grapple with my sexual orientation and Arango never grew up and progressed to passing anti-gay laws.
The teenage homophobia that I employed took two distinct forms. The first was deflecting suspicion by laughing at anti-gay jokes. The second was actually telling the jokes to gauge my social group’s reaction, hoping I could find someone who was also a closeted homosexual. The ideal situation for such individuals is to find fellow closet cases that create safe conditions to maintain the heterosexual façade while enjoying the sexual benefits of someone who is open and honest about their sexual orientation.
Of course, I’m not suggesting that the majority of people with anti-gay attitudes are actually gay. Most hostility still comes from heterosexuals brought up in families where religion-based bigotry is preached. But, I strongly believe that those who are most visibly animated and unusually motivated by homosexuality probably have a strong desire to enter that arena. If every anti-gay activist and politician came out today it would not end opposition to LGBT equality, but it would take the heart out of this insidious movement.
We have to stop laughing (not completely) at these sex scandals and start learning more about the psychological dynamics that drive closet cases into conservative politics and anti-gay activism. It is an underdeveloped field of study that deserves scholarly attention from the top research institutions and universities in America.

More Crazy S**T - Typing In Tongues
Found at joemygod.com. UN FREAKING Believable! And people believe the S&$T
Televangelist and self-proclaimed prophetress Juanita Bynum has raised the ire of some fellow Pentacostals by "typing in tongues" on her Facebook page. However thousands of supportive commenters are lauding Bynum for allowing the "weight of the Holy Spirit" to land on her laptop. SRSLY.Happy Birthday Lily
From Box Turtle Bulletin comes these birthday wishes.
TODAY’S BIRTHDAY:
Lily Tomlin: 1939. She began her comedy career as a stand-up comedian in the 1960s when she quickly landed a spot on NBC’s Laugh-In. Her many memorable characters quickly became the stuff of pop culture: Earnestine, the nasal, nosy, and obnoxious telephone operator who epitomized the bureaucratic condescension of the old Ma Bell monopoly (“We don’t care, we don’t have to…we’re the phone company.”); Edith Ann, the five year old girl sitting in an oversized rocker with her observations of the crazy crap the adults around her were pulling (and always ending her monologues with “…and that’s the truth. Phhhht!”); And Mrs. Judith Beasley, the prim and proper “tasteful lady.” In 1977, she became the first woman to appear solo on Broadway with Appearing Nitely, and in 1985, she starred in another one-woman Broadway show, The Search For Signs of Intelligent Life in the Universe, written by her long-time partner, writer-producer Jane Wagner. In 1980, Tomlin appeared in the hit movie Nine to Five, with Jane Fonda, Dolly Parton, and Dabney Coleman, and she hit movie pay dirt again in All of Me with Steve Martin.
Tomlin and Wagner have been together since 1971, and while their relationship was never much of a secret, the press remained pretty mum. When Tomlin officially came out in 2001, it hardly seemed necessary. “Everybody in the industry was certainly aware of my sexuality and of Jane… In interviews I always reference Jane and talk about Jane, but they don’t always write about it.”
In 1980, Tomlin appeared in the hit movie Nine to Five, with Jane Fonda, Dolly Parton, and Dabney Coleman, and she hit movie pay dirt again in All of Me with Steve Martin.Tomlin and Wagner have been together since 1971, and while their relationship was never much of a secret, the press remained pretty mum.
